The Planet will Open its Eighth Data Center

The Planet, a provider of On Demand IT Infrastructure solutions, will reportedly host a grand opening event of its eighth data center in the north Dallas suburb of Plano, Texas.

The opening event is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16 and will include remarks from Douglas J. Erwin, chairman and chief executive officer at The Planet and Plano City Manager Thomas H. Muehlenbeck.

The new data center features the latest modular cooling technology from Turbine Air Systems (TAS), with high-efficiency, water-cooled chillers that eliminate the possibility of an interior water leak.

Collocation, private racks, and Northstar Managed Hosting services will also be offered -which brings The Planet’s total data center raised-floor footprint to 224,000 square feet.

Moreover, sufficient space is also provided for a Business Continuity Center, which enables office space for customers requiring a disaster recovery base of operations during an outage.

“We’ve received substantial interest in our new highly efficient facilities from customers looking to expand their IT infrastructure capabilities,” said Jeff Lowenberg, vice president of Facilities, The Planet.

“This new space enables us to accommodate the rapid collocation market growth we’ve seen in the Dallas area, and we invite customers, prospects and partners to celebrate another significant step forward in The Planet’s expansion,” said Lowenberg.

The Planet serves as an extension of a customer's team, enabling small- and medium-size businesses to leverage hosting for competitive advantages - allowing them to concentrate on their core competencies and build business success.

The Planet’s customers can choose from a wide range of hosting solutions, from dedicated servers, Managed Dedicated Servers, Northstar Managed Hosting and data center collocation, all backed by 24x7x365 support.
