CompTIA: Two Thumbs Up for the Appointment of Nation's First CTO

If we could remember, some did not agree on the appointment of the first CTO, but CompTIA, the leading trade association for the world's information technology (IT) industry, said today it welcomes the appointment of the first chief technology officer (CTO) in the history of the United States and pledged its support for his efforts to expand the use of technology.

Last April 18, President Obama named Aneesh Chopra America's first CTO. Chopra is currently the Secretary of Technology for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
"CompTIA has long stressed the importance of public-private partnerships in meeting these critical challenges. Mr. Chopra's record as Virginia's secretary of technology clearly shows that he too sees the IT private sector as a key component in the country's long-term economic development. CompTIA looks forward to working closely with the national CTO to help define strategies to maximize growth and get America working again." About CompTIA CompTIA is the voice of the world's information technology (IT) industry. Its members are the companies at the forefront of innovation; and the professionals responsible for maximizing the benefits organizations receive from their investments in technology.

"Technology will play the central role in building a more efficient healthcare infrastructure; promoting alternative energy research and deployment; making our nation more secure; and creating millions of new jobs over the next decade.
