About AstBSS

AstBSS is a full-featured free Asterisk Billing and Business Support System BSS, Telecom Billing and Rating for FreeRadius using MySQL and PHP.

AstBSS is based on and using several open source projects, including Apache, MySQL, PHP and Drupal for the web framework. The goal of AstBSS is to create high quality and innovative solutions for business and Telecom problems using open source software, from classic Billing to whole new ways to increase sales and profitability.

AstBSS is sponsored by Astsys Ltd, London, UK. and developed over many years by core developers with the help of a global community of contributors. The word "AstBSS" is an acronym for "Asterisk - Business Support System" Part of the system was originally named AstBill after Asterisk Billing and was first released in August 2005.

Are Casilla

Founder and Lead Developer

Are Casilla is currently Director of Tele Operations at a small Norwegian Telecom. He is also actively involved with a few Open Source projects and currently AstBSS.org is one of his major involvements. Are started his first Open Source Project astbill.com in August 2005. Are Casilla have worked in the oil industry for many years and was the IT manager for Statoil and BP Nigeria for over 5 years building IT and Communication infrastructure in a very challenging and interesting environment. Before he started his current job, he was working both in London and briefly in Asia. Are love business and challenges and consider him self a driven and practical personality.

Are used to be a MCSE (Microsoft Certified System Engineer) and have passed 11 Microsoft exams, He was running a Microsoft Certified Training Centre for a year and have also been the Technical Director of a Microsoft Certified Solution Provider. Now he runs on Linux and install complex VOIP and Telecom billing solutions in 25 countries.

Are have a natural Passion for Start-ups, Entrepreneurship, Information Technology, Telecom, People, and Marketing. Like to work with others and believe that persistence and hard work always will yield results. He has many years experience in commercial and Open Source software development and has undertaken numerous projects for a variety of clients in over 25 countries.

Marjorie Cabana

Associate Editor and
Community Relationship Manager

Marjorie Cabana is a Filipino graduate with a degree of Bachelor in Secondary Education and Major in General Science. She love Computers and have increasing knowledge of Information Technology, Voip and Communication. She have learned this partly as a part of her school curriculum and partly with extensive self study. She was an associate editor and columnist during her high school and college days and she have been both the school president and school official for several years. Marjorie Cabana graduated from her university with great honors and awards.

Marjorie Cabana have worked as a secretary and data encoder of the former Municipal Town Mayor in her home town Calabanga in Camarines Sur, Philippines. She do recommend everybody to visit her province as it is a fantastic place for holiday. Her work experiences is also as an English teacher and Supervisor of a Korean English Camp in the Philippines where she started as an English teacher and after 4 months become the Head Teacher, and only 3 months later was promoted as the Supervisor. She have also been a volunteer High School teacher for one year.

Marjorie describe herself as an overly competitive and love’s to take new challenges in other fields, in addition to teaching. That's why she is now working in the communications and telecom industry.
